The Global Water Futures Young Professionals (GWF-YP) program will bring together all young researchers (graduate students and postdoctoral fellows) from the national and international partnering institutions under the GWF program. The overall objectives of the GWF-YP program to:
- provide a sense of community amongst new researchers with GWF through open communication, including undergraduate students, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows;
- provide professional development opportunities;
- organize and promote GWF-YP activities, achievements and social events;
- and act as GWF ambassadors within their region.
All undergraduate students, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows under the GWF program will automatically become GWF-YP members. Identified students and postdoctoral fellows will be asked to fill out a brief application form including information on home institution, position, supervisor name, project, and topic of studies along with a personal profile photo to inform the GWF-YP executives of demographics and for the inclusion of their profiles on the GWF-YP website.
The GWF-YP will consist of 4 chapters (one each for UofS, University of Waterloo, McMaster University and Wilfrid Laurier University) and respective 4 Chapter Chairs. Each chair will be for one year term and will be eligible for renewal or re-election. GWF-YP members can apply for Chapter Chair roles via an online form available on the GWF website (coming soon). Applicants will be required to have support from their supervisor.
