Water Experience

My research focuses on how gender and intersecting forms of social inequity shape people's experiences of climate hazards, particularly drought and flooding, in rural and Indigenous communities of the Canadian Prairie region. I am currently leading several research projects on water-related topics, including serving as Canadian lead on a large research project about water-related hazards and climate adaptation in North and South America. In 2015 I published a report for the United Nations World Water Assessment Program (WWAP) on the topic of gender and water. I have also served as an expert committee member for the UN WWAP to develop data collection indicators on gender and water.
