Water Experience

In my 24 years of working in the water sector I have always aimed to integrate a gender and non-exclusion perspective in areas of funding and financing water, sanitation and hygiene. This means to look at the best options that ensure that women and girls not only have access to safe water and adequate sanitation, but are part of the decision making bodies that make critical decisions on policies and financing services that affect them the most. I have also trained and coached many women and young professionals in the sector, making sure their voices were heard. I have fought for the collection of baseline data and tracking progress against gender and inclusion indicators. I have fought for gender and inclusion sensitive budgeting at local level. Some of these aspects are much broader than the water sector and harder to achieve quick results.
