Water Experience

Emily Christensen Rand, PE, MPH, MBA is a multilingual, published, licensed civil engineer, and public health specialist. She has over 24 years leading water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) programs in Africa, Asia, the Pacific, and the Americas. Emily currently leads UNICEF's WASH program in Zambia. Previously, she managed UNICEF's WASH program in Vanuatu. Prior to that she was a Water & Sanitation Specialist at the World Bank. In her spare time, she designed and led George Washington University School of Public Health WASH course. Before the World Bank, she spent almost nine years managing multi-sectoral emergency and development projects in Lesotho, Sudan, Indonesia, and East Timor. Emily has also worked for the private sector as a civil engineer creating detailed engineering designs and providing technical assistance to the US Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). She is grateful to have started her career as a Peace Corps volunteer.
