Prof. Mark R. Servos is currently the Canada Research Chair in Water Quality Protection in the Department of Biology, University of Waterloo, where his research is related to the science underlying risk assessment and management of emerging threats to water quality in watersheds. As part of the “next generation solutions to ensure healthy water resources for future generations”, the Servos group is focused application of environmental DNA to bioassessment of fish and fish population in watersheds such as the Grand River. Our interest is on improving the ability to accurately detect and assess fish communities in river systems and to determine how environmental factors impact these assessments.
