Prairie Water vAPM 2021: Week 1

Pesticides and Prairie Potholes

For this week, we are showcasing work investigating pesticides in prairie wetlands. This the first installation of our "Tour through Prairie Water Series". This series will introduce you to the many researchers and students working with us as well as give you a glimpse into their work and key results.

Our first video is by Dr. Egina Malaj, a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Toxicology Centre at the University of Saskatchewan. Dr. Malaj provides an overview of regional distributions of pesticide use and potential exposure to aquatic species.

The second video is by Andrea Wade, a Masters of Science candidate who is also based at the Toxicology Centre at the University of Saskatchewan. Andrea's research investigates the impacts of pesticides on aquatic invertebrate communities, as well as potential management practices to mitigate negative impacts.
