R Seminar Series Recordings

R is a powerful program for all types of scientific data analysis. Because R uses scripts, and is free, open source software (FOSS), it is also a very useful tool in doing reproducible research.

Global Water Futures and the Centre for Hydrology hosted a 5-part R Seminar series introducing the R program and how to use it. Below are recordings of these seminars.

Other Early-Career Networks

The Young Hydrologic Society (YHS) is a bottom-up initiative to stimulate the interaction and active participation of young hydrologists within the hydrological community. Their website hosts a community-authored blog with varied hydrology-themed topics posts, interviews and research highlights.  They also have a very useful repository of “How to write a paper” presentations. YESS, the Young Earth System Scientists community, unifies international and multidisciplinary early career researchers in a powerful network, providing a voice and leverage for a better future to serve society. Join the network online to have access to the communities’ resources. They also maintain a list of conference and workshop, job list and awards. 

The Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS) is an international and interdisciplinary organization for undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, early faculty members, educators and others with interests in Polar Regions and the wider cryosphere. They compile workshops, courses, funding opportunities, as well as opportunities for an early-career representative on various committee and scientific roles. There is even a Canadian branch!
