Canmore research laboratory to contribute to Global Water Futures program
New Coldwater Laboratory to expand accommodate twenty scientists
Canmore is set to become a “state-of-the-art” global hub for water research that will allow more scientists to develop systems that predict extreme weather that could cause flood and fire.
The expansion of the Coldwater Laboratory, which moved from the Barrier Lake Field Station in Kananaskis Country to central Canmore in December, is a part of the launch of Global Water Futures, a program which aims to make Canada a global leader in water science.
“The research that will be conducted in Canmore, and across the country, will help municipalities become more prepared for major storms, such as the heavy rains that caused the 2013 flooding in Kananaskis,” according to a recent article on the laboratory.
